Knowledge for Improving Chiropractic Practice Management

Direction of the Evidence:
improving chiropractic practice management

We provide our clients with cutting-edge knowledge, because it leads to better patient outcomes & more patient referrals.

Direction of the Evidence is an indispensable guide to cutting-edge research studies in the chiropractic field. Its brief summary capsules highlight the most up-to-date research information related to spine, extremity and nutrition. We review over 2,000 articles for each issue from more than 70 leading peer reviewed journals worldwide and carefully select studies of the highest clinical relevance. We then describe in practitioner-friendly terms what's “behind the curtain” -- the quality of the study and its statistics.

Direction of the Evidence delivers dependable, high-quality advice specifically designed for busy chiropractors. This timely review critically assesses pertinent research related to chiropractic care and offers relevant and meaningful cutting-edge recommendations to assist practitioners in achieving optimal patient outcomes. It provides vital scientific information that helps doctors integrate valid research findings into their practices so they can make smarter clinical decisions.

Practitioners should not automatically use information from research papers to make decisions about patient care, because health care literature suffers from inconsistent quality and frequently distorts research findings. Likewise, they should not rely on the prestige of a particular journal to establish validity. Even some review publications fail to assess the quality of research and thereby provide inappropriate conclusions that can adversely affect patient care. Before a practitioner relies on the findings of a research study, he should use a critical appraisal to determine whether the conclusion is supported by the study’s data. He or she should also locate and examine previous relevant research in order to integrate the current findings and form a conclusion.  Direction of the Evidence does just that -- it provides a critical assessment of all selected papers, finds and assesses relevant data from previous studies and forms a conclusion based upon the preponderance of quality evidence.

Direction of the Evidence is published bi-monthly by the Institute of Evidence-Based Chiropractic exclusively for our practice management clients.  You may view some extracts by clicking here.
